Larry Shane Hilton, WHNP

Larry “Shane” Hilton, began pursuing his nursing career in Danville, Illinois in 1993. Nursing was not the career path that Shane initially had in mind, but it would be one that he pursued with passion and fervor after the untimely death of his grandfather. Shane learned the value of being a nurse when his grandfather, whom he loved very much, passed away from a cerebral hemorrhage. The empathy, attentiveness, and sincere heart felt passion his grandfather’s nurse provided, was contagious, and changed his career course forever.

Immediately following his grandfather’s death, Shane felt ‘called’ to the nursing profession. Shane earned his ‘Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing’ in 1995 and achieved his first goal of becoming a Registered Nurse. Shane would begin his professional career working in labor and delivery. Shane worked in this position for 10 years before pursuing his graduate degree in nursing. In 2002, Shane was accepted into the elite “Frontier School of Midwifery, in Hyden, KY.”

Through this program, Shane became proficient in the maternal physiological process of labor, delivery, postpartum, and the immediate newborn period. Shane earned his ‘Masters of Science in Nursing’ from the Frontier School of Midwifery in 2005 ,and his Certified Nurse Midwifery Certification shortly thereafter. Shane would further his education by completing his post masters certification as a Women’s Healthcare Nurse Practitioner, in 2006. Shane looks forward to seeing you for all your women’s health care needs. Shane is also the Jacksonville, clinical site manager.
