Dr. Josie Porter grew up in Tyler, Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing and practiced as an RN for 4 years at Mother Frances Hospital in labor and delivery/women’s surgery prior to attending medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
During medical school, she received the Paul Cutler Award for Clinical Excellence and is a current member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. She completed her OB/GYN residency at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 2011. After practicing in Raleigh, NC, she moved back to her hometown and joined the Family Circle of Care health center in 2014.
She has served as the OBGYN department lead physician since 2016. In 2018, she became Chief Medical Officer of Family Circle of Care.
She finds joy in giving back to her community and providing quality medical care with empathy and compassion. She especially loves delivering babies and empowering patients to make choices that help them achieve their goals. She believes everyone deserves quality care.
Outside of work, Dr. Porter enjoys spending time with her family, reading, working on home improvement projects and gardening. She volunteers with local organizations that focus on special needs population and suicide prevention.
